The 1970-71 Champions League was the 16th version of this tournament. It was held between 18 August 1970 and 2 June 1971.

33 clubs competed in the tournament. 63 matches were played with 210 goals scored. An average of 3.33 goals per match.

Four clubs were able to qualify to the semi-finals; Ajax, Panathinaikos, Athletico Madrid and Red Star Belgrade.

The final game was held in Wembley Stadium, London between Ajax and Panathinaikos. Ajax was able to clinch their first European title and win the game 2-0.

Antonis Antoniadis from Panathinaikos was the top goalscorer of the tournament scoring 10 goals.
