The 1980 UEFA European Football Championship was held in Italy. It was the sixth version of this tournament, which is held each four years.

It was the first edition to feature eight teams, more than four teams. It was held between 11 and 22 June 1980.

Four teams qualified to the semi-finals; West Germany, Belgium, Italy and Czechoslovakia.

The final game of the tournament occured in Rome in June 22 between West Germany and Belgium, where Germany was able to clinch their second European title and win the game 2-1.

27 goals were scored in this tournament, with an average of 1.93 goals per match. The top goalscorer was Klaus Allofs from Germany with 3 goals.
