2018 UNILAG AGGREGATE SCORE CALCULATIONS
Hello.
Are you a Jambite?
Or you do have anyone who wrote the just concluded Utme and he/she chooses University of Lagos?
Here is how the aggregate scores are calculated, you can do it yourself even before its release officially by the school management, and immediately make the school aware should there be any discrepancy.

There are three (3) exams that are used, UTME, O'LEVEL (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE etc) and POST UTME (screening exercise conducted by the school)
UTME
The UTME carries a whopping 50% of the total score, i.e whatever the candidate scored in UTME will be divided by 8. If a candidate scored 257 for example, then the point for UTME will be
257/8 = 32.125%
O'LEVEL
The O'level is 20% of the total score, and they are graded based on the grade in the five compulsory subjects (minimum of a C6 which must include English Language and Mathematics) which is required by the department of the choice of study.
If a student wants to study say Electrical Engineering, the five O'level subject the student must poses are English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics. So it's important for the candidate to have a good grade in these subjects. The grade points for each grades are as follow;
A1 - 4.00
B2 - 3.50
B3 - 3.00
C4 - 2.50
C5 - 2.00
C6 - 1.50
So if a candidate who wants to study Electrical Engineering have
English C4
Mathematics A1
Civic A1
Computer studies A1
Physics C4
Chemistry C4
Biology B2
Further Mathematics B3
in his/her O'level result, the five compulsory subjects which are English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further mathematics will only be considered, subjects like civic and computer studies where the candidates have A1 respectively will not be considered because they are not compulsory subjects.
So for this candidate, his grades will be
English C4 = 2.50
Mathematics A1 = 4.00
Physics C4 = 2.50
Chemistry C4 = 2.50
Further Mathematics B3 = 3.00
Total = 14.50%
POST UTME SCREENING
This is 30% of the total obtainable score. It has already been calculated by the institution i.e the score is all over 30 for the screening exercise.
If for example, a candidate who wants to study Physics scored 304 in UTME, scored 21% in the Screening exercise and have the following in his/her O'level
English B3
Mathematics A1
Economics C6
Computer studies A1
Physics C6
Chemistry B3
Biology B2
Further Mathematics D7
This is how the calculation will be done, it's very easy.
Firstly, divide the UTME by 8 i.e 304/8 = 38.00
Secondly, grade the compulsory subjects i.e
English B3 - 3.00
Mathematics A1 - 4.00
Physics C6 - 1.50
Chemistry B3 - 3.00
Biology B2 - 3.50
Total = 15.00
Then the add everything together with the 21% gotten fry the screening exercise
38.00 + 15.00 + 21.00 = 74%.
I hope this is well explanatory?
Don't be a victim, do not patronize touts in the name of helping to get admission.
It's very straight forward, once a candidate passes the cut off mark and he/she did the right UTME subject combination and posses the right O'level combination, then such a candidate will be admitted.
Thanks for your time.
