Splinterlands: eSports!

There were many reasons I went to the inaugural Splinterfest event this year. I have loved the ecosystem for everything it has done for me in terms of entertainment and investment over the now four years I have been involved. Meeting the community and team that I often engage with behind our gamertags was great and seeing the future to come was the type of hype I wanted to experience for my time and attention. While the prizes for the tournaments were tempting, it was not the driver of my excitement.

The first day had some challenges getting the tournaments started as there were some confusions on the process to signup and the timing of some of the aspects. I know many were disappointed but as I had doubts, I went straight to the source, Weird Beard who was a great host despite the craziness surrounding him among the demand of the community. I think they did a great job and given the constraints in design still in the game, it was a show of promise of things to come.

As I entered the second day of the event and the scene changed to the competitive side where players would line up for the bracket tournament, things started to get very enticing. Watching the team setup as casters and organizing the games was great to watch. I found myself very engage with the event as I really considered it an eSports tournament. It quickly crossed my mind how amazing this would be if continually developed. Seeing how the match ups played out and also how RNG influenced outcomes was amazing.

Seeing the final portions of each bracket tournament was exciting as players would gather around the remaining players. Even team members, particularly Aggy was watching closely at the match ups. The shouting and awes were all around given the amazing selections that took place. Although the end went by pretty quickly, the essence of the competitive landscape was clearly established. I think it was a great event within Splinterfest that probably deserves even more attention. Given how it was received, I think Weird Beard will be getting a good budget for more development and growth for Splinterlands eSports!
