It's been 25 days already since my last update on the building project. I never knew it will take this long but that is actually how long it has taken for the plastering and flooring to be done completely.

This update will cover

  • The plastering and flooring

  • The Exit Doors installation

  • Windows frame Installation, and

  • PVC Installation

The plastering and flooring

The holy scriptures at 1 peter 4:8 says: Above all things, have intense love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

The phrase, love covers a multitude of sins has taken on an indepth meaning to me as I watched the walls of my building plastered. What do I mean?

Plater is that covering that is made of mortar which is used to cover over the surface of the walls of a building to enhance it's beauty and as well cover all the rough edges. After the bricks are laid, the plumbing work cracks the walls to bury some pipes, also, the electrician cracks the walls to bury some electrical pipes. These leaves the bricks rough and untidy. No one will like the walls as they are, thus, necessitating plastering.

25 days ago, we contracted an expert in plastering and flooring who gave his quotations. After due consideration, we approved the plastering and flooring of both inside and outside the building.

He estimated that both the flooring and plastering will take the following materials

  • 120 bags of cement

  • 5 trips of plastering sand

  • 2 trips of gravel, and

  • Water

We made these materials available as they use. We order for anyone that is needed and work went in daily but there were some delays as a result of getting the plastering sand.

I thought sharp sand can be used for plastering. I never knew it is different and difficult to get. According to the supplier, rainy season makes it difficult to dig out the sand from the innermost part of the soil. And they don't keep it after digging it out but to supply immediately else, rain will wash it away.

So getting the plastering sand was what delayed the work till this time and I needed to give a complete update at this stage.

Meanwhile, it was the flooring that was done first with the gravel before the plastering.

Another delay was due to rain that prevented the workers from getting to the site on some days.

Thank goodness that all is finished. The building is greatly enhanced and passersby praised the workers for job well done.

The foot of the building, from one block above the dpc is plastered rough including the foot of the pillers because we will fix tiles on them in the future.

The Exit Doors installation

The exit doors were already constructed by the welder and paid for. He was just waiting for the plastering to be done before installing them to ensure a perfect job. Hence, as soon as the plastering was done, we invited him to come for the installation. The front door was first installed and then the second exit was done 2 days after.

Guess how happy I am as the keys to these doors were handed over to me? It really gives joy. I turned the key to open it and wow! I couldn't control my happiness.

Windows frame Installation

Because of the limited fund, we have decided to fix 2 rooms and 2 toilets (one in one of the rooms and the visitors toilet) and then move in before fixing the rest. We contracted an expert in aluminum windows to construct sliding windows for the 2 rooms, kitchen and toilets. He has fixed the frames. He was waiting for the plastering to be done before he could fix the glasses. Hopefully, he will do so this coming week.

PVC Installation

The 2 rooms that we will be using are to be covered with ceiling. We went for PVC. We already bought 9 packs and it is being fixed. But they are not done with it yet. Hopefully, it will be completed in the next day or so.

What is next?

  • Tilling of the floors of the 2 rooms and toilets. We already bought the tiles and the tiler was waiting for the installation of the PVC to be completed in those rooms and toilets. Hopefully, he will start work tomorrow.

  • Protectors are also going to be installed starting from tomorrow. It was already constructed and they were waiting for the plastering and the installation of the windows frames to be done before installing the protectors.

  • Then, we can move in anytime from next week or upper one depending on how fast the aforementioned works are done. I can't wait!

Conclusion

Thank you steemit for being there for me and my family at this time of need. I am grateful that at least, I can move in to my house, stop house rent and be called a house owner. I pray same for all men of goodwill.

Expect my next update soon!

Thank you boss, yes, it is nearly complete. Oh, yeah, it is as if I am starting a new life. I can't wait to update you all. I really appreciate your comment

Wow, your building project is really coming together! It's fascinating to read about the progress you've made, especially with the plastering and flooring. It's true that saying "love covers a multitude of sins" takes on a whole new meaning when you see how plastering can transform and beautify the walls, hiding all those rough edges left behind by plumbing and electrical work.
I totally get the delays you faced with things like getting the right plastering sand and dealing with the unpredictable weather. Mother Nature can be quite the project manager, huh?
I'm also curious about your choice of PVC for the ceilings in the two rooms you'll be using. I saw some people are using Timber Joists for those kinds of projects. Have you tried them?
