Cosmetics to my understanding, is anything that is used to enhance beauty, and take care of the skin. It doesn't matter which part of the skin, it could be the head, face, elbows, lips, etc. so today I'm going to be sharing with us my cosmetic routine and why exactly I use them.

I'm a very natural person and I love naturality, I feel there's a freshness that comes from being one's natural self. This doesn't mean I in any way detest people who add artificial things to enhance their body or looks, but 7 out of 10 times, I would go for a natural look. Having said this, over the years I have been very skeptical and wary of using cosmetic products that would change or alter even slightly my skin disposition. Having seen a lot of side effects to cosmetic products, I was scared and refused to use them based on hearsay, but as one gets older, the need to take care of ones body becomes priority, and so I needed to find the kinds of products that work for my skin type. Let's dive in:

What is your go-to skincare routine, and which products do you use regularly.

My go- to skin care routine is very simple. I use wipes every morning and evening to cleanse my face. Sometimes before I bathe, so that my skin pores can be open and sometimes after my bath when my face is a bit soft so that the moisture can enter my skin pores well.
Next I get some drops of my dermarliss beauty lotion face cleanser on a cotton wool and I scrub my face with it.

My wipes and dermarliss cleanser.....

This lotion acts as a deep cleanser removing irregular pigments and gives me a clear, smooth and very evenly toned skin.

Once I'm done with this, I can decide to rub some body cream to my face or not depending on the weather outside (if I'm going out), but most times I just carry my face without the cream so that the lotion can do a very good work.

What are the benefits of using these cosmetic products?.

Over time of using them, I've noticed they don't have any side effects to my face and they maintain my skin tone perfectly and even add to the glow of my skin. Even when I run out of them, there are no negative effects as opposed to some other skin care products that once you stop using them, it will be noticed almost immediately.

For instance, this is my Shea butter lotion and it gives my skin a very smooth and even tone. Gotten from the Shea seed, It is produced in the most natural of ways. It also moisturisers and softens my skin.
Shea butter is a natural oil and acts as my body lotion cream.
No matter how sunny and hot the day gets, I'm sure of protection against dry skin, and it retains moisture.

What is the difference between natural cosmetic products and chemical based ones? Which one do you prefer and why.?

I think the difference is that one is natural and the other has chemicals. I always say that no matter how little chemical is added to a thing, it has altered its natural configuration. It's more preferable that nature plays it's role and alters a things than it is chemically induced and if course, I'll always prefer natural cosmetic products. Mother nature knows best, I'll always say
I prefer using natural cosmetics because they have little or no side effects to the skin and that's why my skin care routine contains as little chemically produced products as possible

Do you think the regular use of cosmetic products can damage our skin? If yes then share their drawbacks.

Well, this is depending on the kind of products used. Technology has advanced so much and has made way for a lot of cosmetic products that are fairly healthy for body use. Regular use cannot be avoided same way one has to take a bath and brush ones teeth daily, but I will advice that we create a balance when using these cosmetics. Though I feel there are some drawbacks in regular use of these products, they are;

  • Over dependence on these products which leads to a sense of inferiority when they're not used.
  • Skin irritation as a product of getting used to one cosmetic product. This becomes an issue when that product isn't available in the market

What cosmetic products do you use @pandoradiary @jovita30 @ninapenda and why??
