Diary game 3rd April 2025 || We watch while the world is burning|| The impact of social media in today's world - Positive or negative???
Many years ago, we would have to wait weeks for a postman to deliver news of happenings in an area or even send us information. If we go some centuries back, it would be the information 'bird' courier carrying secret information, but in today's world, at the click of a button, someone in Tanzania would know what is happening in Guatemala 😁.
To further make the world a smaller village, the social media came and finished work, from pictures, to videos, to voice messages, news travels faster than the speed of light.
This is the world we live in today and because of this phenomenon, information is readily available and accessible at the snap of one's finger tips.
Welcome to my diary game for today, It's been quite an eventful one for me. Wondering why the seeming 'rant' about social media??? Stick with me and you'll get to find out. Yesterday i spent the better part of the day loosening my mum's hair. She had made this tiny micro twist that was reigning, I guess she didn't think of who would loosen it for her at the time. Well guess who???
The task fell to me and I gallantly stepped up to it. We stayed that way till some minutes past 9pm. Because of this I couldn't braid my hair as I planned to.
I quickly found time to make the hair today and here are some beautiful pictures I took.

Life is all about memories and I'm learning to catalogue these memoirs as the day goes by, so expect to see more from me 😁. While enjoying time with my mum I didn't know that the "world" outside was burning.
Today is our midweek service and It was going to be our anointing service. I got ready and stepped out, but as I walked towards the junction I would board a bus, I could see billows of black smoke rising into the skies.
- What could be causing this kind of thick heavy smoke??
My heart flew into my stomach as I thought a tanker had collided with a vehicle or burst into flames as this was becoming increasingly rampant in my area.

As I stepped closer, I saw a mammoth crowd all gathered around the junction. Something has happened for sure. Hoping to get the gist from the standers-by, I stepped into the crowd curiously asking about what happened left, right and center.
The first thing I noticed was that the crowd was very tense as though under a kind of forced tension, I lowered my voice. A lady beside me whose phone was already videoing the scene and posting online began to narrate the scene to me. According to her, some fellows from the state environmental transformation committee had arrived suddenly and began to chase roadside sellers away and burn down their small shops and goods.
Oh what a sight it was as I stood there watching people's source of livelihood being burnt away by fire. There was a tense environment as they seized the phones of some people who tried to record what was happening, probably because it was an illegal operation.
I stood there for some minutes listening to the angry mob, but what could I do to help at the moment???, So as much as I was pained, I went to look for a bus to convey me to my destination.
I arrived church not too long but still thinking about the sight I had just beheld some minutes ago. People's properties all licked up by flames in the twinkle of an eye - What exactly is in this life??
Anyways, prayers had started so I immersed myself into the service. The prayers, worship and then the word session were all powerful. I prayed oh because a man without the help of God is utterly helpless!!
I met a couple of church friends after the service and we took some pictures.
As I returned back home, I noticed that things had gone back to normal at the burn site. The debris of people's shops and goods had been pushed to one side and business continued as if nothing had happened. This life ( shakes my head).
Here I am just realising that I am passing all this information to you by the aid of the internet. How my story will affect your thoughts and maybe actions tomorrow towards certain people or things is dependent on how well I can push my point of view. I think that's all the social media is today - individual points of view and even when a corporate body is being represented, it's still a set of individual points of views summed up together 😁.
Would you say that depending on how well one is able to pass across their point of view and even to some large extents convince people into accepting it, affects the receivers, and how they interact with the world around them??
Has the social media space become good or bad??? , is there even a grey line???
Your thoughts would be highly appreciated in the comments section.
