Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 57: What gender do you prefer your child to be?

Greetings to the steem for Nigeria community.
I honestly smiled to myself when I read this contest and it's requirements and I know there'll be a lot of interesting and of course different perspectives which I can't wait to read about.

Talking from experience as the first child and daughter of my family, i would definitely want to have a girl child.

This doesn't mean I have any bias about boy children because as the bible tells us, Children are a gift from God irrespective of the gender. But let me tell you why I would opine for a girl child.

WHICH CHILD DO I THINK IS MORE EXPENSIVE TO TRAIN???

Well, given the current situation of the economy, I would say it's a girl child. Here are my reasons below;

1. Girls will make hair and you need to just waka pass hair salons and hear the outrageous prices they'll call for you just to braid your hair, even if you're just braiding your natural locks. This was why growing up, my mum used my hair to learn how to plait hair. It wasn't a funny experience at all as I would sit for hours sometimes with my neck bent in one posture or another so she could make it well. Though it favoured my younger siblings who came after me as my mum had become a pro then.

Not every woman in today's world has the time to learn hair plaiting, and even if a mother learns this, the demands of family, a career, her business and so on won't give her the time to do so.

2)From a very young age, ranging between 12-17, girls begin to see their monthly cycle and this would require monthly purchases of sanitary pads to keep them clean.
If you've been to the market recently, you'll agree with me that sanitary products are on the rise. 1 pack of sanitary pads now go for as high as 1,200 which costs 6 steem and above depending on the product you chose.

1. A regular change of underwears: this is due to to menstruation stains and all. Not like the boy child won't be bought underwears from time to time, but the ladies need it more.

PREFERABLE GENDER FOR MY CHILDREN

As a parent today, I would like to have a mix of boys and girls.
First girls because a well trained young lady can be a source of great help to her mother in the house. This doesn't mean that a boy child won't do the same as I've seen boys take care of homes but women have these few attributes ;

• Girls have an uncanny ability to administrate and look after the house and her siblings more than boys.

• Her eyes reach ground. She is able to see things that need to be done and do them exceptionally well

• Girls have this motherly nature and this makes them naturally caring. A trait that will be needed for a first child.

After a girl, I would have a boy child so that he'll be there to help her do all the heavy duty and male muscle needing work, like lifting of things and all.
Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that there's a man in the house to defend his sister's when any other guy steps out of line, after these two, the others can come in random successions.😂.

Which Gender do I think have the tendency to go out of control during adolescence??

Adolescence can be a very tough and touchy stage for every child, and in my opinion, I feel the both genders have the tendency to go out of control if not properly guided.
Here are my reasons below;

1. Both genders are just beginning to discover their body. Puberty has set In. The boys are having wet dreams, the girls begin seeing their periods and breast development -( you won't know how scary it is to see blood flowing from your private areas every month and you can't stop or help it) and if they aren't properly taught and guided they can make mistakes.

2. Both genders start getting attracted to the opposite sex and it's a big deal.😂. They don't know why in the first place they're having these feelings and don't also know what to do with all these emotions and hormones rushing up and down.
   This period can see any child spiral out of control if he or she doesn't have the proper space and person to feel comfortable with talking about herself things in an unashamed way and receiving gentle and proper guidance that don't seem like warnings and threats😂.

In as much as I know that women have natural gits of being caring and motherly, also been very keen in administration and sensitive plus the issue of the "sixth sense", i still believe that the boy child also has special gifts and abilities they bring to "the table" and so i don't agree with this phrase.

I believe that what a boy can do, a girl can also do vice versa, it all depends on the kind of training they receive and how well they are brought up. Like my mentor would always say,

You Can train anybody to become anything.
It's all in the training!!
