The Full Worm Moon / Huge moon over Athens...
Two days ago, on March 20, we had the final supermoon of 2019.
That full Moon was particularly special because it reached its peak on the same day as the spring equinox.
The last time they occurred on the same date was on March 20, 1981! It is called a “supermoon”, because the Moon will be nearly at its closest to Earth for the month.
It doesn’t look bigger to the eye but it does look significantly brighter than usual.
Supermoons in general have a stronger-than-usual effect on Earth’s oceans (higher tides).
The March Full Moon has a distinctive nickname, given to it by Native Americans.
The call it the Full Worm Moon because the ground begins to soften and the earthworms can eventually reach the surface again, after the long winter.
This provides food for the return of the migrating birds that symbolize the beginning of Spring.
It is also called the Sap Moon, since it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow.
This is me and on my head I have the moon :)
Have a beautiful weekend and....
