Wildflower series ~ Wild petunia
Ipomoea obscura is a member of the Morning Glory family and it is found in all the warmer areas of the world but is also indigenous to Africa. I really like Morning Glory but it is a highly invasive species where I live - it soon takes over an area and its vines smother all the plants that grow there. This little yellow-flowered vine is a caudiciform, meaning that it has a large underground tuber that makes it drought resistant and perennial, unlike the purple, blue and white-flowered plants that are such a pest here. I found this one growing next to a large rock and I found one ripe seed pod on the vine which I picked. The pod contained only one seed and I will sow it and see what happens. I would like to grow these as I do like the flowers and they will not take over the garden.
Such a delicate yellow flower that grows in a hot arid climate reminds me of a river lily.
These flowers don't last very long
Great photo!
I have never seen a wild petunia.
The stones in the photo are always a beautiful background for flowers and insects!
I really like!
Thank you! There are always stones because that is all there is to see here, really. They are beautiful, though
Yes, they are beautiful!
This is very nice yellow colour! Morning glory!! Yes, we also have the edible variety here. The leaves are very good in soup.

Is this an edible one? Which part do you eat?
It is a pretty little guy. Lets hope the seed takes. :-)
Holding thumbs!
Hope the seed strikes. It's abeautiful yellow flower
Yellow is my favourite colour for flowers. I think this should be easy, given that it grows in so many different places in the world
