The FA Cup Trophy at Portsmouths Spinnaker Tower. On show before the FA Cup Final.

Greetings everyone,

We are in the early stages of one of the cherished trophies in England. Yesterday, the round 3 of the FA Cup title race came to an end in a single leg head to head contest.

In all, 6 rounds of these single leg matches will be played to eliminate losing teams till they reach the quater final stage. Here, the remaining eight teams will go against each other then the winning 4 teams will face each other in the semis. After which we will see the finals and the winner will emerge.

As exciting as the FA Cup usually is for the bigger teams of England, it didn't go as expected for Man United last night. For them, it was an absolute nightmare.

I think we can't just base on the outcome to condemn Manchester United even though they had many chances to capitalize on, but Middleborough deserves some credit for the determination they showed on the pitch last night.

That is what it takes to conquer big teams. Even though the odds were against them considering the kind of squad Man United possessed, they still stepped up to the occasion, especially after the first goal.

I saw the penalty miss of Ronaldo as something normal and no player has a 100 percent conversion rate with the amount of attempts he has made. In fact, he has the best penalty scoring average of any player.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the zeal with which they played with and managed to come up with a spectacular goal initiated by a lovely run by Issah Jones, he then crossed it and was beautifully laid down by Duncan Watmore for Matt Crooks.

That might as well be a super sub since Duncan Watmore had just entered the pitch 2 minutes prior. There was a moment of controversy where the ball had it Joe Lumley's had in his effort to protect it from Anthony Elanga outside his jurisdiction.

But it had to be ruled as an accidental handball rather than a clear one meaning there would be no penalty.

The highlights of the match can be seen below.

Am actually not surprised they got knocked out by Middlesbrough, as a fan of Manchester United and with the current form of the team in other to avoid unnecessary heart breaks just assume the worst and you will be ok.😂

No expectations, no disappointments 😂👍

It was rather unfortunate that the emerging star Elanga missed his penalty. I was not surprised to see United out when the full game ended 1:1. United have now won only one in their last 7 penalty shot out in all competitions.

I hope they will find a way to improve themselves on that.

Thanks for sharing.

I felt sad for him to be honest. He looks very promising and I hope people don’t judge him by this mistake.

United are so much better now but they still seem rough around the edges. More work needs to be done to improve the team.

No doubt about that. I hope he bounce back stronger 💪 than ever .

Sure United is getting better and they just need to compose themselves at the upfront.

Nowadays any results from Man Utd is not surprising. So i was not surprised when they got knocked out by the championship side Middlesbrough. Utd just need to work as a team and stop all these nonsense because they have all the players they need. Just look at the squad they used to play against Middlesbrough but still they managed to score only 1 goal.

It is just so shameful. I can only imagine how it feels to be a United fan right now. Very shameful.

Great job!
