Achievement 2: Basic security on Steem by @nkosam

Greetings dear members of Steemit community. I am glad to take part in this achievement 2 after completing my introduction post and was verified. This achievement 2 is all about basic security on Steem.

Security has to do with safe keeping or securing ones assets to avoid loss or theft. It is the same everywhere although methods of security can vary.

Question 1
Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?

Yes, when my account was created, the PDF was downloaded at once and I retrieved all the keys including the posting, active, master, owner and memo keys .

Question2
Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

I have come to study and understand the functions and restrictions of these keys after I retrieved them.

Posting key is used to perform social actions like posting, commenting, voting, and replying.

Active key is used for wallet transactions like transfer of token to another user, powerup and delegation. Any movement of my earnings requires active key

Master key is the main key that was first gotten when the account was created which I used to retrieve my pdf. It can be used to recover or change my keys in the event of hack or loss.

Memo key is used to encrypt or decript massages.

Memo key is used to decline voting rights, recover accounts and other things.

Question 3
How do you plan to keep your master password?

As soon as my pdf was retrieved, I had the master key stored and copied offline too for safety

Question 4
Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Yes, I know how to transfer my token to another user. It is simple, I just need to go to my wallet, go to the Steem balance, click the drop down arrow and select transfer.

Then input the username of the account I and transferring to, the amount and then use my active key to complete the transaction

Question 5
Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

I know how to powerup my Steem. I only need to go to my wallet, go to my Steem balance and click on the drop down arrow. Then I will select powerup

Then the box that comes up, i will input the amount to powerup and then click power up. I will use my active key to complete the transaction
