Drone Sunset Timelapse

in #drone7 years ago

Hey Steemville,

This is the result of my continual self teaching of how to use a DJI Mavik Pro drone and in turn how to deal with the video footage. This is still a whole new world for me.

This particular footage was taken last night, and unfortunately it was very windy, so this clip is not as smooth as I had hoped. I will say the Adobe Premier Pro did a lot of magic on this video to make it appear more stable, even though the wind was pushing the drone like crazy.

It's amazing the technology that we have at a consumer level. I've been on the fence between the DJI Mavik Pro and Phantom. I would prefer the Mavik Pro in just about every category minus the camera (at least on paper) but the video looks pretty good. A friend of mine has the Phantom but the size of it and the controller are big deal breakers for me.

@guntotnhippie - I am a former Phantom 3 Pro user, who moved to a Mavic, and I absolutely love it. The narrower field of view enables you to more strategically frame shots, plus the long battery life and long flying distances, stability in cross winds, etc., gave me no regrets. Check out my drone shots at my page: @texagonia Happy flying.

Looks like you were pretty close to the low hanging clouds! I got a drone last year and have had a blast shooting with it. I'll have to post one of the videos from Priest Lake last summer. Nice work, looking forward to more.

Very cool! Totally enjoyed that. So I'll be in your home away from home in Patagonia Chile in about 10 days. After corresponding with La Gringa, turns out we are going to miss each other. I'll be heading to Uruguay around April 10th. Would have been awesome to meet you in person. However at least I'll get to see this amazing place you made home for a while. Wishing you and your family the very best! -Dan

Dan - when are you coming down here? I'm in Puerto Varas, if you're in the neighborhood, let's get together.

Heck yeah. I should be in Puerto Varas no later than Monday or Tuesday next week. I'll keep you posted and well make plans! Are you staying in town? Is that where you are living for the moment? I'm doing an over night pit stop in Tecna Peru, then off to Arica tomorrow morning. Saturday I fly to Port Montt. Totally looking forward to meeting you.

Excellent @noboxes! Very nice. A little suggestion - on a shot like this, I'd recommend more sky and less land. That is to say, go into the gimbal settings and enable the gimbal to tilt up 30º above horizon. That will enable you to get some incredible sky shots. Just take care not to get the props in the frame...
