A processed food are food (it can be crops, vegetables or fruits) that during its preparation stage it was tempered with(altered).

Write names of any ten Processed foods and what you know about processed foods.

Examples of processed foods are:

  • Cakes

  • Biscuits

  • Bread

  • Soft drinks, milk(drinks)

  • Sausage rolls, pastries, pies(savoury snacks)

  • Sausage, bacon, hams (meat products)

  • Cereals

  • Tinned vegetables

  • Microwave meals

  • Syrups

Processed foods, some are counted as unhealthy because of it's high level of fat, salt and sugar in it, but not all are unhealthy to the body.
There are basic terms used in processing foods:

  • Canning

  • Cooking

  • Freezing

  • Drying.

Some foods needs to be processed to be able to consume safe. Example; milk contains harmful bacteria but when pasteurised, it's safe to take. Also, pressing seeds to get the oil is a processed way to make it healthy.

Ultra processed foods are usually high in artificial ingredients, such as sugar, trans fat and refined carbohydrates that's why they contribute to major illnesses around the globe, like cause obesity, coronary heart diseases and others.

Ultra processed foods have low amount of essential nutrients.In today's world, the use of processed foods has seriously increased in every household.


How much processed food you utilize on weekly basis?

I would say, I don't really consume processed foods but I do take some. Weekly, I would say 40% because I eat noodles once a week, I also eat bread say twice a week. I avoid fast foods but once in a while I make my own pastries at home and enjoy in the comfort of my home.

I make most of my food from the scratch, like soups. And my meat is direct from the animal, I don't use canned beef, I simply go to the slaughter and get my meat. I hardly use mil, except in tea or while making pancakes or pastries.

I am keen on what enters my body and most times when I feel too over weight from what I eat and also see changes in my body, I start my indoor workout or go for a jog. Anything to sweat it out.

That's right, processed foods contain many chemicals such as additives that make the food preserve more and last longer, not to mention the artificial flavors of some to change the taste or enhance it. Great your presentation, greetings and success. @noraandy
