Bajai Body Camp 13.2: Day 379
Bajai Body Camp 13.2: Day 379
Hotel Al Khaima
Wednesday June 20, 2018
Asilah, Tanger, Morocco
20.75% chillaxed
It's sunny and cool this morning. Surprisingly cool. I think, seasonally anyway, it's the final day of Spring. I don't even know if that means anything in our current environment.
Asilah at Sunset
Good buffet breakfast from the hotel restaurant. Decent sleep. Wifi is so weak I had to keep the comp on all to get my Arabic lessons.
My chin is getting buried in my neck again, but before I go for the botox (that's a joke) I'll get back on the fitness train. This place and this weather make me want to workout and I have some minimum wage fitness resources nearby. Maybe there will be others running along the beach. There's a "stone" (as opposed to board) walk adjacent to the sand.
What next? Let the food digest and try to catch up with my buddy, Khalid. Oh and maybe get the some work done. The wifi is good on the balcony, so I'll have some two-three hour windows of battery power to work with.
AM workout with bands and working towards 100 reps of exercises. I did squats and diamond pushups, but only one set of maybe 12. I did get 100 chin reps in. The shoulder/scapula work tires me out. So I think the problem is I'm tiring out too early. Yet I seem to have so much energy otherwise. I must figure this out. Maybe answers.. or better yet, more discipline will come during the week. It's still early and it's the first day. I have some time.
Proof that I've been here. June 2018
Walk around the hood today. Found the Bank of Africa, so maybe... probably it has a cash machine. Got some eggs and some nuts. It doesn't cost that much to dine out here, so I can see that happening. I'll need more dh (dirham) though. I want to keep the raw egg regimen going. I don't feel bulletproof, but I think I'm seeing improvement.
I think that as the week progresses I'll get a better idea about Asilah. I may not rush back to Spain. There are beggars and hustlers here, so it's got to be worth their while. At least they think so. I guess it's the culture. Looks like people are coming to the beach.
First dish at Seven Seas
Sleep came and got me after the walk. Then I got up and had a pretty satisfying half and half... workout that is. Pulling and dipping and tubing on the swing set (the bars) and the balance in the pool. I still haven't done the daily wrists work. So let me do some now.
Ok, done... and owie!
Being a beginner, and admitting and accepting as much, to myself at this advanced point in my fitness lifestyle, is both humbling and beneficial. It's tricky too.
I have to defeat my ego, fight the urge to give up on conditioning my body to make new moves, create new neural connections and wake up, (or resurrect) dormant muscles, and remain optimistic about improvement. While I'm on the road. The last challenge is the easiest. I've lived through and benefited from what exercise, conditioning and mindset can do. I am up for another twenty years of challenging myself to a higher level of fitness, strength and above all, flexibility.
Speaking of which... left knee. Still. Where's my pen.
Thinking about some of my favorite places, Asilah might make the list. If I stayed long enough I'd make some friends. If I could get my hands on a phone I could connect with Khalid.
It didn't work.
Speaking of which, I walked to the train station, found a pay phone, but it didn't work.
Then to the beach to watch the sun set. To Seven Seas for late dinner. Then back to 74.
Thunder, rain and lightning over night. And an amorous couple next door.
