There's no question about where I'm waking up this morning... the underground hostel. It's darker, (in terms of illumination), in here this morning than it was last night. There's no natural light beaming in from outside. Just the lamps that are placed in necessary locations. In some ways it's kind of cool.

What's not cool is the roach I just killed!! It was crawling around the bunk above mine. You're getting a review as it happens.
Because of the lighting and curtains the people who walk passed my bunk are only shadows. Like Plato's cave. There are rooms here as well. At least there are doors. Behind those doors there may be rooms with more bunk beds. Those rooms might be for women.
Women are more vulnerable than men.
There, I said it. It's a general statement, but by and large women need to be protected from men, either by other men or by laws, which are written and enforced, largely... by men. Current events in the US strongly suggest this true, although women (general) insist on simultaneously being treated equally, but specially, when in suits them. Some men will accommodate them, but there are men that won't. Nor will a system run by men.
Solution. Change the system. Which is in the process of happening. But of course, there's resistance. Humans in power are not anxious to give up the benefits of such power.
The small private rooms at the hostel, are indeed what I thought they were. Small, private rooms. Almost closets. Still the occupants share showers and toilets, but they have room to lock up their goods.
Hostel life, for me is an uncomfortable existence, thus far. However, part of this journey is about stepping out of my comfort zone. So, regardless of how I complain about this place, it's a worthwhile experience.
More later.
Hard Fork
I don't keep up with the behind the scenes operation of Steemit. My first awareness of a hard fork blockchain reset was when I tried to post something... (other than this blog). I had what the Steem Team refers to as a "negative user experience." Basically, in terms I can understand, the shyt didn't work. Apparently after two years and 1500 or do, posts I didn't have enough "rate credits" - which is a new one on me.
The alerts suggest that this will be remedied with 24 hours, so perhaps by the time I get to a point where I can properly post again, I can properly post again.

There's a breakfast... desayuno... spot right next door to the hostel. Decent sammich and tea, affordable... (caught myself). I milked that local for a while then came to the park. This is the lighter side of retirement. Day 649. I've made good use of my time. Seen and observed the world and documenting it as I go along on several social media platforms. I've made a lot of new acquaintances and friends, and I still manage to work out, train, exercise and not get too unfit.
Found a closer place to train.
Meeting up with friends this evening. Very excited!!!

Strange dynamic playing out with my VT crew. Not for this blog. Tomorrow will be interesting, if it happens.
Presently I am locked in the hostel. The receptionist has gone somewhere and I don't know how to get out. One minute I'm trying to give this place the benefit of why it is here and the purpose it serves... next thing I know I can't leave. It's no biggie right now so I can laugh at it. I don't imagine she'll be very long.

And then the rain came. It looked like a sun shower at first, but the clouds came strong. I'm chronicling these weird occurrences without prejudice. It seemed like it would rain today. I went to the wrong place. Thought I was early, had a cup of tea then realized I was in the wrong place. The guys there pointed me in the right direction. And I ran through the rain. I was fashionably late, but typically in the wrong place.

Great meet-up with the guys. More people at the cave tonight. I have an upper bunk-mate. I've got my set up set up. There are definitely bugs in the bunk. Bed bugs? Roaches? Probably and yes. I have new bites on me. I might just have to warn people about this spot.
It is not a good night (at the hostel).
The feelings haven't changed since I've returned to Spain. Something in the energy... It's something in me... Keep reading. Thanks for the upvotes comments and stuff.
