My Neighborhood Watch #46 - Reporting Events Around us

in Steem4Nigerialast month

Greetings friends, the earth is filled with both sadness and happiness, today I am reporting an event which I attended in my lounge on Friday 3rd April 2024 as I resume school for lectures

I sat down quietly to witness the burial of my landlady as different thoughts kept bustling in my mind, one of those thoughts is why we Nigerians keep dancing at burial grounds, I agree that our traditions and culture are distinct, but at the same time I feel it improper in some scenarios, it's a time for mourning and when the music is played many put their belt tight to storm the dancing floor not minding if the deceased is young or old.

Before someone dies I believe God grants permission but can we truly cover up the pain we feel by dancing, No, but many seem to dance to let every depression that could be caused by death go. I feel the best time to dance is when we are sure of the deceased destination or if their expectation has manifested to some extent and most importantly if the person is old enough. I know for sure that nobody is too young to die but before a dance session, this criteria should be met.

Normally, a preacher gives an exhortation, and this time he preaches on the destination of man which seems common since it was a burial ground but it had so much impact as he emphasized that the problem is not death but where the soul of man heads to after death, he also said that the only similarity between the rich, poor, young and old is one place the grave. No matter the costly suits and apparel you put on, it will all decay. This message touched me, the point picked has been retained in me.

Man has a destination, we are higher animals as science will have it, we dream, think more, and create, and do you think our death is a complete termination? It is a transition to a new place. For humans, death is a transition.

Every proceeding was made after the preaching was a dance session which I complained about but in this case, the deceased was not too young, it remains a painful exit as she tried to recover from a disease but lost the fight, she didn't pass her middle age according to what the biography entails. The bereaved were given some donations from the congregations, friends and well-wishers, after that the coffin was taken by members of the church board to the grave. This is where everyone bursts into tears as a rare gem is about to be returned to the earth.

I wish my friends @alli001, @bessie2023 and @joojoo78 can report some happenings around them
