*The Winter Herald* 🌸🌨️

Alongside the forest road, in our big mushrooms hunt part 1 and 2

We stumbled upon this lovely purple colored flower which is a clear sign for the coming of winter, as @simba mentioned while walking;

Its name is Colchicum Autumnale or more commonly known in Israel as The Winter Herald (in Hebrew - Sitvanit)

The Colchicum Autumnale has six petals, six stamens, and three leaves of leaves.
The flower's ovary is underground.

It's leaves, flowers, seeds, and roots are poisonous containing the alkaloid Colchicine

The seeds and roots have been attributed to medicinal properties for a long time since small doses of them are used as a treatment drug for Gout and arterial diseases.

The plant has a one-year tuber.
At the end of the growth season, in the spring remains the expropriation created in the winter and next to it a sprout of the next year's expropriation.

From the sprout, the new plant will develop, roots, inflorescence, and leaves.

During winter the bud will grow, while the old cocoon will shrink, and so the process repeats itself.

Colchicum stevenii is the most common species in Israel.

It can be found between and next to rocks in the north and center of the country.

All kinds are ​​protected by law in Israel.
