We all need brands

I had a friend over for Christmas today. I see him once a year, for 3 years now, on Christmas day.

The last time I saw him, which was last year Christmas, he was dressed in jeans, a shirt, had a big chunk of gold chain round his neck, one shoe i can't remember, a wristwatch, hand chain, and a hat. There were too many clothing items and colors. Plus he had 'fried' his hair!

You can imagine my surprise and gladness to see him in plain smart cooperate Ankara!

You see, i had no problem with jeans and a shirt; not even with a large gold chain. The only problem i had with the look from the previous year was The Brand.

Thing is, this friend of mine is a comedian and I knew for a fact that the comedy industry here in Nigeria was large and highly competitive- No one would have taken him seriously.

Your brand is your identity. It how people see you and what informs then on what you have to offer. Every business needs a brand, individuals need brands. Even President Buhari of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had a brand during the last election. His brand was Change.

This friend of mine can attest to immense growth in career when he rebranded himself. His clients are now big men and women of the cooperate world because that is what his new brand attracts and it is racking in money.

An unbranded product is faceless. Don't be limited!
