Watching my every move
When you are taking photos near heather, it's always a good idea to look around a bit; odds are, there is a grasshopper somewhere observing you, wondering whether it is time to jump to safety:

Thanks for watching!
Grasshoppers have always looked like some wicked high tech mobile armor unit :)
Great shot as always!
Do check out ”District 9” if you haven't!

Not sure where you hail from, but I've done so much talking about entomophagy at this point that the first thing I think about when I look at the pretty little guy is frying it up and eating it.
I'm Dutch, and we don't eat these traditionally, although I have on occasion.
I've made it a point to try to make insects personally palatable - otherwise my ling term support of eating them for practical reasons feels hypocritical
Nice shot!
What a brilliant shot! Very nice indeed! - and yes, I agree - in fact I think we should all take time in life to look around a little more at everything... We are so personally absorbed in our phones a lot of the time that the world passes us by and we miss so many beautiful moments.
Very cool capture @ocrdu!!!!
Actually, Heather moorland was always my favourite habitat for searching for insects. Especially caterpillars. Nice shot.
Last week I was in South Bohemia. Meadows were full of grasshoppers.
Hundreds of them and did not want to wait for portrait.
Nice! I wish we were a little bit closer, but cool shot!
Like this?
My GF insists they aren't cute up close 8-).
Exactly!! Cute shmoot lol that guy is cool looking! This one's so much better! (imo) Great stuff dude.
I like a bit of context and composition around the subject. It tells more of a story, and it prevents all our photos looking the same. This one is supposed to express "grasshopper leering at me from the cover of a branch of heather", not just "a grasshopper". I already have too many of those latter shots.
oh so they're very very small cause the heather's leaves are pretty tiny -
Good shot! And yes you will always be watched!
