How safe is your wallet

Hello amazing steemians, @oghie here.
From my little research i have come to discover that anything that is of value to you, security should be first of all utilized. Banks have security, companies have security, organizations have security, some prominent individuals even go as far as moving with security everywhere they go. Back to the blockchain, by all means we should secure our accounts whole-heatedly. In China and Japan, according to the newsletter, cryptocurrency sites have been hacked by internet fraudsters, also in Delhi, a city located in India there was a complaint at cyber that someone stole bitcoin from a company's wallet worth millions of naira.
Nearly 438 bitcoins worth over Rs 20 crore were stolen from a top exchange firm in India in what is being billed as the biggest cryptocurrency theft in the country so far. The cyber cell accusing its CSO, Amitabh Saxena, of siphoning off the money from the firm's wallet, ET's Nilesh Christopher reported. The exchange has urged the government to seize Saxena's passport, fearing that he may leave the country.
So therefore it is very crucial for one to first of all safe his/her account from fraudsters. Here also in the steem blockchain, several complains have been laid from users whose accounts were stolen and in the course of that lost, their sbd and steem. There are some few tips on how you can secure your account;
- Avoid phishing links in comments
- Apart from steemconnect and other trusted sites, do not paste you steem password there
- Esteemapp is the only verified application on the blockchain (atleast for now), outside that give deaf ears to other applications fraudsters may convince you to use
- Each time you visit a site that you're not sure off, quickly regenerate a new password
- Trust no one but your self to share your steemit password with
- And lastly, don't give sbd or delegate steem to anyone who offers delegations for huge votes (although you can still do your research).
Just last week there was a complain from a lady who lives in India, in her words she said;
So, this happened yesterday. Here is this guy who was chit-chatting with me and was pleading for upvotes. And somehow, I acted unwise and accidentally inboxed him my private key. As soon as I refreshed my mind, I realized within seconds and updated the chat. But the damage was done and I am so proud of that guy that he instantly copied my key, of course for evil intentions. Had I been at his place, I wouldn’t have done that. - @yogachallenge.
From her experience it was clear she pasted her steem key accidentally, to the fraudster, and he was as fast as a lighting to quickly change the password.
Stay safe and smart, see you at the top!
