PhotoGrid_1522494130933.jpgThe ear is arguably the most essential part of the body.
I have observed that the ear get extremely sensitive in blind people.
Funny things happen, one of such is having a bug in your ear.
I am speaking from live experience. You sure wouldn't want to have an insect crawl into your ear.
Before I give you ways to get it off your ear, let me narrate the ordeal I faced.

First, when the insect first entered the ear, I thought it was at the surface ( outer ear/ pinnacle) so I didn't panic.
I later began to feel harsh movement inside the ear. Guess what it got stuck inside, the environment was different, so it tried finding its way out but to no avail.

I was at the receiving end of its trial and error, as the cacophonous sound was like weirdest of feeling. It didn't stop t that. It even surged deeper causing severe pain in the canal making me feel so uncomfortable and afraid of the state of my Inocent ear.

Precaution

  1. Try not to hit your head, it may make the bug to surge deeper.
  2. Do try to put any object into the ear as it will push the insect further in.
  3. Try not to talk loudly or shout, as it may agitate the insect.

What you should do

  1. Try to be calm, do not panic.
  2. Be sure you really have an insect in your ear.

How to remove the bug

  1. One basic way to remove the bug is to use gravity. Tilt your head with the affected ear down.

  2. Flush the ear with warm water with a dropper or a bulb syringe.
Hold your head upright and stretch the ear canal by pulling the outer ear. Put a steady stream of warm water into your ear. Tilt your head to the side to drain out your ear.
Do not irrigate your ear if you think your ear drum has been ruptured to avoid causing additional damage.

  3. Use mineral oil to kill the bug.
Use a drop or two of mineral, baby, or olive oil inside your ear canal to kill the insect.
This can help you to avoid stinging or eardrum rupture from scratching or biting.

  4. Go to a doctor for suction.
A doctor or medical professional can use a special suction device, commonly used to remove ear wax, to attempt to remove the bug. This may be dangerous to try on your own, so make sure you visit an emergency room or urgent care clinic and allow a professional to remove the bug for you.
