I am a Nigerian and currently resides in Nigeria. We are currently in the rainy season also known as the wet season which often spans from April to October.

The rainy season is my favorite season due to many reasons and one of the reasons is the presence of some awesome fruits which I use to enjoy.

Apple

An apple is an edible fruit that originated from Central Asia and is cultivated throughout the globe. There are up to 7,500 species of apple from which we have, Ambrosia, Alice, Ananasrenette, Bramley, Aroma, etc.

Apple is one of my best fruits and it is the fruit that I take every opportunity I have to eat. Apples can be stored for a few months in a controlled atmosphere where ethylene concentration which can induce ripening to be prevented or delayed.

Below are some of the health benefits of apples.

  • Apples contain nutrients such as Calories, Carbs, Fiber, Vitamin C, Potassium, and Vitamin K, all of which are needed for growth and development.

  • They are rich in antioxidants which help to protect one’s cell from harmful molecules. Apples also help in supporting a healthy immune system.

  • Apples help in supporting healthy weight loss as it contains a high proportion of water and fiber. They aid digestion when taken with foods.

  • Apples help in lowering blood cholesterol levels as it contains soluble fiber. They also have polyphenols which helped in reducing blood pressure and thus promote or enhance one’s heart health.

  • Apples help in reducing the risk of diabetes and this is also because it contains polyphenol such as flavonoid epicatechin, etc.

  • Apples help in preventing cancer as it doesn’t allow the cancerous cell to multiply.

  • Apples help in preventing asthma as it is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that can protect one’s lung from oxidative damage.

  • Apples help in protecting the brain as it contains Quercetin which helps in protecting the brain from oxidative stress.

Where do you get fresh fruits?

Most of the time, I used to get it from Shoprite due to the following reasons,

  • The store is close to my area and so I can easily go there and get the fruits together with any other things that I might want to buy. Killing two birds with one stone🤗.

  • They always have varieties of fruits.

  • Their fruits are always neat and fresh.

  • Their fruits just like their other products are very cheap.
