Faith That Works.

James 2:18, 26.

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also>

The story was told of a famous French tightrope walker by the name Charles Blondin. Charles was the first person to cross a tightrope stretched 11,000 feet across the mighty Niagara Falls.

On a particular day people came from miles away to see Charles’ great feats. He walked across 160 feet above the Niagara Falls several times, each time with a different daring feat - once in a sack, on poles, on a bicycle, in the dark, and blindfolded. One time he even carried a stove and cooked an omelet in the middle of the rope!

The crowd cheered as Charles carefully walked across - one dangerous step after another - pushing a wheelbarrow holding a sack of potatoes. Then at one point, Charles suddenly stopped and addressed his audience: "Do you believe I can carry a person across in this wheelbarrow?" The crowd enthusiastically yelled, "Yes”! You are the greatest tightrope walker in the world. We believe!" Then Charles asked, "Who wants to get into the wheelbarrow?" Suddenly, the crowd went silent and no one responded.

A faith that works is a faith that is backed by actions that correspond to the faith professed. While as believers, we do no start with works nor were we justified by works, we are definitely saved to begin to walk in good works which GOD has pre-ordained for us.

Are you believing and just folding your hands, or are you mindful of the appropriate steps and actions that should follow your faith?

Outside of deliberate actions, potentials will remain trapped, dreams unrealized, aspirations will not be attained and the future will not be delivered.

Carry out your planting, do your watering and trust GOD for the increase.

We need to be thankful to God daily that we have been saved by His Grace through Faith and not of our works. That gives us the confidence to walk by faith in the works that God has ordained for us. Our faith is alive and our words and actions testify to the faith of Christ in us everywhere we find ourselves and we have to exercise it.
