ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE: IMPACT OF WATER POLLUTION ON THE ENVIRONMENT!
()
SOURCE
Water is life, Yeah, the researcher's were right; it is undeniable and necessary for us to consumed water because without water there is no life, that is water has greatest resources value. There are different ways to conserve water; it is an important element as industrial process and domestic. The agency that monitor's the activities on how to regulate water resources today, give us a bad impression on their mode of operations.
However, the floating range of waste-water that is plastic bags to chemical waste, the water environment has turned into poison areas, because of ways they manage the area and these lead to contamination of water as a result of the contamination is called water pollution.
Therefore, the improper usage of the areas that is, pond, stream, lakes, rivers, etc . when the substance that modifying the water environment in negative ways then it called water pollution.
WATER POLLUTION: This is the combination of waste product that entering the water bodies that leads to pool of poison, it may be from manufacturing or industrials companies and domestic water. Water allows some easy solvent that enable and absorbed pollutants as to mix easily with any contaminated substances. The basic effect of water pollution on human is that, it cause infection or diseases due to intake of polluted water, many people die because of consumption of polluted water. Water can be polluted either by man-made or by natural means.
There is major water pollutants, their sources, harmful effects and their control are discussed below:
SOURCE OF WATER CONTAMINATION:
The source of water pollution starts from the environmental materials which can be either chemical disposal or waste from agricultural manure. Although, when the fertilizer applied on the farm or field, during rainfall the chemical that was sprayed on the farmyard will be washed away by the chemical to ocean, river, streams and leads to water pollutants.Examples of the water pollutants on human welfares’ are many infectious agents like viruses and bacteria through the human waste or excreta. Also, the ecosystem is another source of water pollution because nitrates and phosphates are chemicals that derive from agricultural waste and inorganic-acid.
EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTION ON HUMAN:
Water pollution has great effects on human because it has emerged as one of the most dangers threats to environment, it also contributes to the domestic and industrial problems in such a way that excessive waste from both domestic and industrial serve as primary responsible for the effects; despite the efforts of the government in rural areas, town or cities, only few responses’ to the government call. These leads to some of the effects on animals and plants; Harmful growth effects on aquatic plants are due to some plethora of moss in the polluted water of the rivers, the sunlight fails to reach to the depths of the river which affects the growth of aquatic plants in the lack of photosynthesis.
It also makes water unfit for consumption because when there is water pollution which serves as toxic substances, it makes water not to be suitable for drinking but also for agriculture purposes, it cannot useful again, according to World Health Organization (WHO) about 50 million persons become the victims of death due to water pollution. The situation in underdeveloped countries is even worse because of poor sanitary in their environment leads to suffering from some diseases born of water polluted.
Polluted water result to waterborne disease and examples are cholera, dysentery, typhoid, polluted water also cause skin diseases such as a situation whereby there are stagnated water, it becomes the battle ground of parasites and spread of mosquito which leads to common diseases.
CONTROL OF WATER POLLUTION
Industries should be sited far away from residential areas and there should be effective techniques to deal with or prevent oil spillage, there should be public enlightenment on waste disposal and dumping of refuse or petrochemical by-products into rivers, streams, the sea should be avoided because all these leads to water pollution
METHODS OF PURIFYING WATER.
There are different parameters or methods that involved in purifying water include:
Boiling, Addition of chemicals e.g alum or chlorine, Filtration, Distillation, Sedimentation and boiling, Sterilization e.g U-V light.
Thanks for reading through the post.
Water the say is the secret of life. We most do everything in our power to help make this world a better place to live in.
water pollution really affected the well being and also serve as the source of poison to everyone's
