Kayak Life - Color Challenge Yellow
Back in the Saddle Again
So I am a at least a month and a half late getting back in the old kayak, but it sure feels good to be back at it. However, its crazy how much difference a year makes! Places that last year were just a short paddle, this first time out were a labor of love. I get sore in places, I didnt even know existed!
She Aint As Nice as She Once Was
Yeah the old kayak has a few miles on her now. I think this is about my fifth season. Since I live on the lake, I usually take it out for a paddle most evenings when the weather is decent. If the lake is up like it is this year, I put down some concrete bock so I can beach the kayak to get in easy. This has put more than a few scratches in the bottom. Also they sit out in the Michigan weather all winter. The only minor flaw is the sunburst orange has faded to nearly all yellow. Yet I must say for cheap kayaks, these Pelicans have been impressive!
Flower Power
Here is a random yellow flower (Lily I believe) just because folks are so used to seeing flowers for the color challenges, we dont want them to feel ripped off LOL

Your pictures were meaningful because it shared your beautiful moment on the lake. You are lucky to have such wonderful surroundings. The main thing is not how the kayak looks, but that it floats.... :)

I noticed you don't use a life preserver in either video? How deep is the lake? Just wondering ;)
These are filmed right off our seawall so 2-3 feet. However, I always have the required flotation. The lake is patrolled by the Sheriff all the time so you best have it! Plus the idea of drowning isnt too appealing so we dont take any risks lol. I did rescue some kids last year though that did not
Good to hear that you play it safe. I lived along the shores of Lake Michigan for 5 years and saw several helicopter rescues. I was always surprised by the chancea people took. Beautiful photos!
Oh we are always hearing off ice fisherman getting stranded on a little ice patch that breaks off or they fall through!
