#whiteiswhite: FIFTY SHADES OF WHITE

in #photography8 years ago

#whiteiswhite is a photo contest initiated by @dmcamera

Monday’s theme is “White Against White”. Did you know that white can have many shades? See for yourself:

As the rays of the rising morning sun reflect playfully from the trunk of the white-bark birch tree and the smooth surface of snow cover surrounding it, they create fifty different shades of white.

The photo in this post was taken with my smartphone camera, Nexus 5

First off, your phone takes awesome pictures...I wish I could take pics that good!
Second, I absolutely love the idea of more shades of white - and you're right, look what a diverse photo :)

Thank you very much, @honeydue!

Yes, I am myself amazed at what pictures this 4-years old cheap Nexus 5 is capable of shooting! I will be holding onto it until the day it doesn’t turn on anymore.

What photographic equipment do you usually use for taking pictures?

Yes, you definitely should ;)
I just use my phone...it's a Samsung and it takes pretty good photos. Still, I love how yours focused on the tree, like that's obviously the main thing.

is the telephoto camera sufficient for blurring in the background?
Or with an editing program?
put forward as a successful result. beautiful detail photo.
I liked it

Yes, you can take such photos with a special function called “Lens Blur” in the standard Android camera app. It works surprisingly well, considering that my smartphone only has one camera. I imagine it would work even better with dual-cameras smartphones.

Thank you for your feedback!

This just makes me miss playing in the snow! I use to love peeling the white bark off this one tree we had up north. It has some very wonderful colors to it and was amazing for writing on. It was always peeling and just shedding the bark on the ground!

Have you ever tried birch-tree juice? It’s one of my favourite drinks! It's very common in Russia, but I saw it in supermarkets here in Sweden and Denmark too.

Before paper came to Russia, people used white bark to write on.

I had no idea that was even a thing to drink.

This is the birch-tree juice I used to buy in Sweden:

They have it in different flavours, but the original “pure” flavour is the best!
