Take Control of Your Spirit As A Christian

Christian life is a unique life and it must remain unique in your lifestyle as involves the way you talk, address people, behave, relate and react to occurrences around you. These are parts of things that will show your true identity with Christ Jesus.

In the book of Proverbs chapter 25 verse 28, Bible says;

If you cannot control your anger, you are as helpless as a city without walls, open to attack.

It is expected of every true Christian who has identity with Christ Jesus to possess sense of temperance and ability to use it in every circumstance that may seem to be temptation to them.

Temperance or self-control is one of the fruits of the spirit that the book of Galatians chapter 6 verse 22 talks about as ones that give life.

In the book of 2nd Peter chapter 1 verse 5-6 which says;

(5) For this very reason, do your best to add goodness to your faith; to your goodness add knowledge; (6) to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add endurance; to your endurance add godliness.

Self-control in this place is also known as temperance which implies that you must be able to keep your composure cool even when people try to provoke you.

There are some things that may cast dent on you as a Christian. For instance, someone damages your property either carelessly or intentionally; you should not react roughly or engage in fight with the person even if he refuses to apologize.

Fighting is satanic and it is a dent to your personality as a true Christian.

Refusing to fight back doesn't make you a naive or an idiot but simply showcase you as a true Christian.

There are many cases of people who were converted to Christ after they were convinced by characters of some true Christians around them.

Someone who provokes you, expecting you to react roughly and engage in fight with him or her may also be convinced through your cool response.

Endeavor to train yourself on the perfect way to exercise moderation in everything you are doing in life.

A contester who wants to run a race will deny himself many things in the way of preparations in order to keep himself fit for the competition.

Those things he will be doing to keep fit may be those things that he dislikes, but what? He has to do them at all cost if he wants to win the prize.

It is very bad to always do whatsoever you feel like laying your hands on.

No, it may destroy you!

Always endeavor to control yourself by becoming the master over your actions. If you won't be able to do those things, God Almighty will not ask you to do it. So, you can control your spirit.

Anyone who doesn't have power over his spirit is compared to a city without wall that can be pulled down at any time by enemies.

Embellish your Christian life and protect it against the adversaries. One the measure to get this done is to possess rule over your spirit: temperance or self-control.
