WHY AFRICAN EMPLOYERS NEEDS TO LOOK BEYOND CVs
Having the requried skills and qualification is essential to any successful candidate searching for their dream jobs. But it will interest us all to know that there is one thing more cruicial that the best education and experience fir any successful organisation- Passion!
Below is a definition of passion from a brief narration by a human Resources/Recruitment manager in Nigeria- Mr.Okafor
Over the past few weeks, i was privileged to have a chat with some candidates for entry level sales roles to fill up different vacant positions within the organization.
One particular candidate walked in with a contagious smile looking very excited. The smile on his face was a complete distraction for all...i couldn't help but push aside the typical introductory questions and ask the reason for his happiness.
"This is my first time in the city of Lagos sir" he responded.
He had just arrived in the city after a 32 hours night and day road trip with a stop overs from the far Northern Nigeria- No relatives, No friends, No accomodation- he came with nothing with the hope of getting something out of the job he felt so passionate about.
"Where to after this interview i asked"
"Back to the inter-state bus park for the next available bus, i only took 3 days off from my work place" he responded again.
I was humble by his efforts and wondered how some Candidates who go through this or deal when recruiters shove them off after just few minutes and do not bother to look beyond the CV and years of experience for the real evidence of who can get the job done.
Many employers did not start as top executives, so it would be a great deal to take a little morr time to listen to those who aspires so hard to start this Journey and give feedback on time, whether successful or not...Some of this Candidates go through hell to be at an interview!
Experience and opportunity with zeal/passion could be considered aside qualifications alone, willingness should not be completely ignored, personal efforts could drive a company's sales higher or in branding
This individuals rescilience could be just what the company needs to break even!

After looking at CVs solely, the main guys that would solve the firm's problems are busy at home playing PS Games 🤐

@oluwoleolaide a wonderful topic but will thyself listen to you?,
In this part of the world we are caught in irrational ethnicism and regionalism, and this two is the reason Nigeria has yet to make any head way since independence.
and that has finds its way into Steemit....
