Hallacas at any time of the year

in #photography6 years ago
I've always seen the wrong idea that hallacas is a typical December dish and if you like it as much as I do? the question is ... why wait so long to enjoy them, I do not see the need to feel Christmas to eat the things you see in it, Smoked ham if it's all year round, the pork leg, drinks typical everything they do forever ... then to begin.

Las Hallacas is a mass of cornmeal stuffed with a stew usually made of meat, but not all places in Venezuela or even Colombia prepare them the same,
The common ingredients in all places are: Onion, Meat, Olives, capers, raisins and lots of love ... xD

ok but depending on the region you add some other ingredients that may seem interesting and rare.

Region Los andes: Potato and carrot, in tachira we have the custom for the near production of vegetables to add many products to foods of this genre, the vegetables are present and the tuber are part of the menu, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava .. .
the hallaca or the stew used for its filling is placed on potatoes and carrots, chopped into squares.

Center of the country: this region should not count as a region because being the capital of Venezuela, in this area live people from all over the country who for work or lifestyle move to this area, understood that Caracas has a mixture of many cultures and no identity of their own so I do not know if the fact of using egg in the stew of the hallaca is something that belongs to them or it is simply a culture induced from some other side like the east, where they also throw eggs ... then we see these changes? in the eastern region: apart from egg they also put fish and in some cases "ripe bananas" I do not understand why in this region they like so much to add sweet to meals

The hallaca is wrapped in a leaf and tied to be cooked and served directly from this leaf, it is a dish naturally eaten in December but with very simple ingredients and to talk about how easy it is to get the ingredients we can talk a little about this food

History: The hallaca was a food originated in the most humble families, especially one that was dedicated to the servitude of houses with purchasing power that with all the products that were left over from the kitchen they used these to prepare a stew and
fill maize flour that was the most economical that by history was the most used in the meals of our country,

since we talk about leftovers to the hallaca 3 types of meat are added (nowadays that sounds very expensive) but the reality is that it is only a way to express that you can add any type of meat you have at hand
