Sleepy Elm Tree

in #photography7 years ago

Shhh! I'm trying to sleep. Wake me up in March.

sleepy elm.jpg

This is the elm tree in my back yard. It is 30m tall. It is all alone among several maples that are almost as big. Somehow, it is the most majestic of the trees in my yard. In Canada, and I suspect elsewhere, large elms are usually found alone because Dutch Elm Disease ravaged the elm population for a few decades starting around 1960. Groups of elms almost all died off as the disease spread rapidly from tree to tree. Now it is rare to see multiple large/old elms together.

I have many photos of this tree from all different angles in all seasons with various amounts of foliage, snow, and ice on the branches. I even have shots from above taken with my DIY hexacopter (aka drone). This particular shot was taken after an ice storm. As with all my photos, this was shot with my iPhone 6.

Enjoy.
