Foliage and Pink
A Lucky rose
A couple of days ago I shared with you my ink drawing of a cranesbill, or hardy geranium flower. I decide to go back to that ink drawing and build up the composition further, the beautiful pink blooms of my Lucky Floribunda rose were to irresistible not to put into a painting! The purple geranium flowers sit just to left of this rose in my garden, so they were destined to be the perfect companions in this piece of work.
The original drawing of a geranium flower and leaves. Drawn using black drawing ink and applying it with a dip pen.
I built up the composition further by adding two of the pink roses and a further geranium flower. The foliage in the picture comprises of rose leaves and the stunningly shaped geranium leaves.
I applied watercolours over the completed ink drawing, and pale greens and yellows in the background.
Ink again!:) I love your super tiny (don't know the proper english wodr) pen for ink!:)
My teeny-weeny dip pen? 😋
Yep!:)
Haha, i love it too!
Beautiful as always. I love how you show the steps and the evolution of the piece. Really interesting for the uncreative types like myself. ;)
We are all creative @realcodysimon, we are born creative! We just forget.
You made it sound simple. I can only think of the disasters I would end up doing to this work. This is very nice painting. Keep going!
A tip is to build up gentle layers of colour, you can't go too wrong like that!
A rose so gentle and kind
Is such a lovely friend
All that is clouding your mind
She will understand
Your worries will fade effortlessly
You will be free
Because a gentle rose sent you a kiss
Magical eternal bliss
Thank you so much for the inspiration. May I use your art with my poem?
Of course you can @sumsum, that would be an honour.
Excellent work lady @opheliafu a lovely work congratulations
Have a beautiful weekend
You and your family have a lovely weekend too. :D
Amazing, love it! Great work!
Awesome thank you @mikisolus.
P.S. I used to have a piano accordion- you have a new follower.
I used to paint as well :) great minds think alike!
I couldn't play it very well- too heavy for me. It was my grandfathers, I had it for years, then found a very good home for it with someone who wanted to play it.
They are very heavy indeed. I am playing 48 bass accordion on my concerts so I can stand and jump on the stage.
I love geraniums. My father used to plant them back in my home country. They really made his garden look beautiful. Thanks for sharing your beautiful drawing and pictures.
Yes, there are so many varieties. My grandma used to grow the red ones each year. These are the hardy ones, so they pretty much look after themselves.
My father loves the red ones too. I took this picture from his garden some years ago
Really beautiful flowers.
Very pretty.
@ophelia you are my heroine AWESOME
Awesome! Putting on my cape and mask- art to the rescue!
