Red Camellias
Red Camellias
The petals of the red camellia flowers were full of vibrant energy today as the sun was shining down upon them. I tried to capture some of that bold colour in this drawing.
I used paint to lay down areas of colour before adding a black outline to the shapes. As I observed the camellia flowers move in the breeze I applied quick and energetic lines to capture the sense of movement in the image.

They remind me of the roses from Alice from Wonderland :)
Oooh that's a nice idea. I did a few Alice in Wonderland themed posts last year- maybe it's something I can revisit.

Beautiful. And thanks for sharing the process. I haven't painted much, so I tend to approach painting from a drawing perspective, with line work. This is very useful, I will give it a try.
The red also coincide with @kalemandra's #colorchallenge. Today is red :)

Yes, if I wait a few hours it will be Monday! I haven't done any of the others though- i saw her challenge yesterday, I think it's great.
