100 DAYS OF STEEM:The Diary Game June 11, 2020: Water, Our Basic Necessity In Life
One of the most basic necessities and most vital element in Human life is Water. What do you think so, Steemians? Let's consider it in in this way: water forms about 70% of animal's metabolism, of which human being is included. This means that if your body loses about one litre of water, you can cause damage to some vital internal organs such as the live and the heart. That is why it's best to take in water frequently. In eukaryotic cells, enough water uptake ensures turgidity of cells and encourage animals growth. But, as soon animals lose water, the body cells shrink due to the shrinking of the vacuoles losing water than their bodies need. Water can be said to lubricate all joined, especial the synovial joints for rotations and flexion. Water regulate the body temperature of of all living organisms. In this case, one can record high body temperature immediately the body loses water. Water is needed by photosynthetic plants during the process of photosynthesis, which be a great loss to all living organisms, especially mammals when photosynthesis doesn't work due to little water uptake by green plants. Water serve as domestic purposes such as washing, cooking and bathing.
What can therefore be used to replace water when water isn't available for use? There is nothing that can be used to replace water. Fruits and vegetables have similar functions that if one fruit become scarce, there's one particular substitute that can provide the same function or similar to the one which isn't available, but what about water that doesn't have any substitute? That is why water is our basic necessity in life. But not all of us have good water to use. Many areas are affected and suffer before they get water. Let's consider those around the desert places, they dig long miles down to the water table but do not get reach of water. Such people in those areas minimize their water usage. Over here in Ghana, those we have many forest areas, yet some places are deprived of good portable water. In my Region here - Ashanti region, many District suffer before they get water, for instance, Kumawu District is one of such location having that problem. The whole town doesn't support bore - hole source of water. Several effort have leveraged to dig some in the town but the water has not been coming at all. But my District, Sekyere Central is Ok, though we don't get abundance of water, but it's somehow manageable compared to other areas in the same region.
Despite the fact that we are in the bumper harvest of rain, It's like we are in the lean season of harmattan where water becomes scarce. The rainfall has been erratic and irregular to support our water usage. Over here in Nsuta township, the tap is active, yet we don't get frequent flow of the tap. At times it could last for two weeks time before they will open the tap. In the case of my house is connected with the tap, but we are on the same boat of getting it two weeks time. This has made me aggressive when the open the tap. I don't even allow my wife to fetch the water because if it comes and don't fetch some quickly, they just close it. Today they have opened the tap, and I'm help to fetch the quantity we can use before they close it. This is even small exercise to the body.
Here is our storage room for water, food and cooking utensils. We have few gallons here. And two big rubber containers and about three buckets. We don't have enough of these containers to restore water for longer period of time. So, when they delay the opening of the tap we have to buy some from those water tankers.
From my storage room to where the tap is just few distance, at the compound. It will be about 15m distance. I walk about 2mins to get there. Though I have one tap at my bathroom, but for the purposes of cooking and washing the utensils I use the tap outside to ensure great hygiene.
Here is the tap place. We have attack it to this fence wall. I was opening the the top cover so that I can fill the water into the gallon. The tap is a little bit higher, so I had to place one gallon on the floor and place another one on it.
On my way to the tap here:
This problem would be solve very soon, since I have erected a platform of wall so the I can place a poly tank. This can help me to fetch enough water when the tap is opened. I hope I wouldn't become aggressive fetching water again.
I hope you enjoyed reading my Diary Game post. Thanks for your support and time to be with me.
