MAN GRIEVED GOD
Hello good morning everyone. Hope you all are doing great this morning. We considered chapter five of the book of Genesis yesterday how people lived long and goldern lives and how Enoch walked with God and He took him. Now lets go into the next chapter.
6:1-2 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them. That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Here, men must have been marrying their own sisters, cousins, nieces and family in general because of how fair and beautiful they look. This wasn't the will of God for them though as this kept happening. Now what did God do?
6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
I said in one of our previous teachings that we will look into why God shorten the life span of people. Remember people lived so long even as long as nine hundred and sixty nice years that Methuselah lived. Now for the sin of man on earth marrying anyhkw, God in His compassion didn't always want to curse or purnish man and that was why he shirtened the lifespan of man to a hundred and twenty years. I know someone will say some people are living longer than that these days, its true but those people found very special grace from God and thats why they lived so long.
6:4-5 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Now the wickedness of man was getting intense as people niw marry strangely and have children for each other. People who are born of God were falling in love, marrying and having children for those God didn't approve. Now after God had shortened the lifespan of man, what did God do again?
6:6-7 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
Wow for God to have been so grieved till the extent that he regretted why He made man, then man must have done really horrible things to annoy God. Now God proposed in His heart here to destroy everything he had made, both human and animals. Did God do this really? We'll see what happened in our next lesson.
