Good day my fellow brethren in the Lord. Its been an amazing day and I thank God for sparing our lives till this moment. Glory be to the name of the Lord. We shall be moving on from our last teaching. We stopped at where God caused Cain for killing his brother and also promised him not to allow anyone hurt him. What a mysterious God we have. 4:17-18 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.

Cain finally had a wife and then the generation started as they started giving birth. Looking at it well, thats whe generation of Cain. I know some people didn't know until now that it was Cain that gave birth to Enoch.

4:19-20 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.

Lamech here is the fourth generation of Cain and they all kept growing and marrying and giving birth to children who also continued with the flow.

4:21-22 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

I remember in Sunday school, this particular question of the first person to play harp and organ always popped up. I hope we can see now that he was Jubal who first played these instruments.

4:23-24 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

How wicked can man be? Lamech too has followed the pattern of his fore father, Cain who killed Abel and now he is justifying himself because God spared Cain's life. Lets see what happebed next.

4:25-26 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Wow! Did you see that? Adam was still alive and had the strenght to give birth to another, Seth who became a replacement of Abel whom the brother killed. He must have found so much favour from God at that time because God loved Abel. Seth too then gave birth as as we can realize here, the earth was getting fuller and now there were more people to serve and worship the Almighty God. We have now come to the end of the chapter 4 of Genesis. Our next post will be from the 5th chapter. Stay tuned.
