Maintain trust in God through prayer

For truly I tell you that whoever says to this mountain: Get off and lie in the sea, and will not doubt in his heart, but will believe that what he says will be done, what he says will be done to him. 24 Therefore I tell you that whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it, and it will come to you. Mark 11: 23-24 King James Version (KJV)

If we trust in God we will receive what we ask for in prayer. Prayer is the key to success. If you and I are to be ourselves and be successful in life, we must know how to pray and be willing to make prayer a priority in our lives.

Every failure is in essence a prayer failure. If we don't pray, the best that can happen is nothing, and then all things remain as they are, which is scary. We all need change, and the way to get it is through prayer.

I think many people are not happy with their prayer life, and much of their dissatisfaction is due to a lack of confidence in themselves and in their prayer. Many Christians today have questions about their prayer life, and they are frustrated with it. Even those who are praying regularly testify that they are frustrated because they feel something is missing; they are not sure if they get it right.

I can identify with this situation, because I felt that way for a long time. I was committed to praying every morning, but at the end of the prayer time, I always had a vague sense of frustration. Finally I asked the Lord what my problem was, and he answered me in my heart, saying: "Daughter, you feel that your prayers are not good." It was that old damnation problem again. I was not enjoying prayer because I was not confident that my prayers were acceptable. So what if they were imperfect?

God had to teach me some lessons about prayer by faith, about the fact that the Holy Spirit helps me in prayer, and He had to recommend that Jesus intercede for me (Romans 8:26). If two of the people of the Trinity were helping me, surely my imperfect prayers would be perfected the moment they reached the throne of God the Father. This knowledge relieved a lot of pressure, but he had to develop confidence in simple prayer with faith.
