Lately Japan has slightly followed route of Hollywood by rebooting lot of anime from the past, whatever its 90's or 80's. Obviously this is not something exclusive to Hollywood and to be fair Japan has been doing it in their own in the past too, but more so with Live-action than Anime.
So the anime in question is called Sorcerous Stabber Orphen (Majutsushi Orphen Hagure Tabi) which is originally based on light novels of same name. The original anime ran for 2 seasons which came out in 98' but back then the light novels didn't finish out yet so anime ended up having fillers in second season and some original stuff throw in the mid.
While i don't like too much artistically this new adaption, i might still give it couple of episodes and see it how it performs
