Ahmedabad is a city in the state of Gujarat which has plenty of options to explore if one likes to go around places. The getaway is the first in India to be awarded the status of a heritage city by UNESCO. Apart from monuments to see and other normal touristy things to do, there are natural monuments which are worth discovering. Most of us like to indulge in the lap of Mother Nature, for this we need to visit some of these places near and far the heritage city of Ahmedabad. A trip to these places helps us put away the hustle and bustle of a typical city life.

  1. Hingolgadh

Also known as Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary, the Hingolgadh Sanctuary is an eco-education centre which is spread across an area of 654 sq km. The sanctuary is home to approximately 230 different species of birds, both native and foreign ones. One can find the bulbul, the woodpecker, the spotted dove, etc. along with animals such as wolves, jackals, chinkara, flying foxes, etc. The sanctuary is located at a distance of 180 km from the city of Ahmedabad.

  1. Rann of Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary

The wildlife sanctuary of Rann of Kutch addresses the needs of food and shelter for quite a number of migratory and local wildlife species. The land here is marshy in nature which is further surrounded by the Thar Desert of Rajasthan and is one of the most loved habitats for a large number of animals and birds of the region. One can find flamingos, great Indian bustards, sarus cranes, striped hyenas and many more species here. The great Rann of Kutch is situated at a distance of 93 km from Ahmedabad.

Located at a distance of around 29 km from Ahmedabad, one would walk into India's very own Jurassic Park while visiting this park. The park is considered as the second largest hatchery of dinosaur eggs around the globe. The nature park is bifurcated into various sections, such as the dinosaur and fossil, mammal, reptile, marine and earth, and also has a botanical garden.

The waterfall is a perfect spot for those who would love to freeze nature in their frames. The ZanZari is a result of rapids along with the main waterfall flowing down a height of 25 ft. Located at a distance of 66 km from the city of Ahmedabad, the place attracts large number of visitors especially during the early morning hours to catch the rising sun.

  1. Polo Forest

The Polo Forest is wrapped by mountains and has the river of Harnav cutting through it. The forest unleashes its true beauty during the morning hours, with the music of the chirping of birds and various animals. The forest is located at a distance of 108 km from Ahmedabad and the fresh air from here would sweep you of your feet with its peace and serenity.
