NEONATE NERODIA SIPEDON
They can't get much fresher than this!
As I was crossing a low-water bridge earlier, some children cried out that they had found a snake. Of course I stopped, jumped out of my truck, and was soon standing in the creek. I recognized it right away, and after explaining that it was a nonvenomous, baby Northern Water Snake, I showed the children for a while. After that, I asked if they minded if I grabbed it for some photos, to which they obliged, so here they are. These snakes give live birth, and I'm rather certain that this is one is rather fresh. Enjoy the photos!
