POST # 40,000 FROM PAPA-PEPPER - USING TOMATO CLIPS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!

in #gardening7 years ago

Wow, I can't believe that I've manually made 40,000 posts and comments on steemit since I first joined, almost two years ago!

In that time, my life has changed a lot, and there have been a lot of firsts for me that I've shared with all of you. This is another. Enjoy it!

USING TOMATO CLIPS VIDEO

HERE’S WHAT I’M UP TO!

Since I'm done using tomato cages, I wanted to be prepared to succeed in other options. This is just one of many bags of tomato clips that I ordered recently. As I attempt to run my tomato plants along cattle panels and sections of fencing, these should really help.

Rather than trying to weave the growing plants through the fencing, I can now clip the stems to the metal. This will make things easier and prevent me from breaking the stems.

This plant may look a little interesting sprawled out like this, but I am optimistic about the potential results of this method. I'm still learning and experimenting, but I think it'll work!

Here is another closer image to help you see how these clips work. I hope that they do no deteriorate, because it would be great to be able to use them for years to come. We will see!

If this works the way that I think it will, I'll be able to have large "walls" of tomatoes to harvest later in the year. Some plants are already bearing fruit, so we are getting excited. What do you think? Will my idea work? Also, have you ever used tomato clips before?

Thanks for all of your support and encouragement as I've enjoyed my time on steemit, making these first 40K posts and comments!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

What a great achievement.
You are here and you bring something more than you think.
Thanks to you and your family for being so supportive of #steem

How come the clips are better than cages? What type of tomato are you growing? Do you need to pluck the stems that don’t produce!

I just think that tomato cages are inferior technology. They are too small, too flimsy, and cost too much.

Thank you for sharing your awesomeness with us sir! @papa-pepper

Woohoo! 40G Posts! Holla! Awesome Accomplishment Papa-Pepper!! I've never used those tomatoe clips before. I just use twist ties or jute to tie tomatoes up. I don't like cages either. Good luck growing lots of juicy delicious 🍅!!
