THE FREE SALADS OF SPRING ARE HERE!!!
Wild & Delicious, and Free too!
Personally, I love a good meal. I love them even more when they are nutritious and free, and that's one of the reasons that I really like foraging. So many of the wild edibles are vitamin and nutrient packed, and a lot make for some good salads too! In this video from the other year I show you just how easy it is.
Anyway, while in town today, I noticed free food everywhere. Of course with the chemical and industrial issues that the cites bring we usually don't forage while in town, but it's still a great opportunity to practice identifying wild edibles. The @little-peppers are quite skilled at it, and skills like that may come in handy some day, and even be potentially life-saving. Today we saw a lot of Chives, Henbit, and Chickweed. Do you enjoy foraging? What are some of your local wild edibles that you enjoy? Here are some photos from earlier.
Foraging free food is awesome!! Still a while till we can do that around this part of the woods! It's refreshing to see green growing with flowers where you are! So much to love about being in touch with the food you eat! Keep up the great efforts!
Hi papa,
Great video and message! - I am a huge wild food fan - My brother and I have run a wild food business supplying chefs for over 20 years now. The incredible range of food available growing wild is always incredible - the old saying: there is no such thing as free lunch - is so clearly wrong as witnessed by any one who takes a walk ... just about anywhere!
Upvoted and resteemed :D
Love it! Thanks so much for sharing that!

Thanks! Healthy, nutritious, free food! WE love it and I'm glad that you do too!
Its THE BEST!!!!!!
Lamb's quarter is a big one for us, and ground sorrel - love that lemon-y zest!
Oh yeah, we love those two!
Looks like the kind of mint we have in our garden.
We still have a lot of snow up here, even though the last three days have been 42*. I am waiting (ok, salivating 🤤) for the Miner’s lettuce to pop up so I can make less expensive salads. 🙂
