THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE 27 – CANE TOAD
I’ve never found a toad this big before, but I guess everything is bigger in Texas!
The Cane Toad (Rhinella marina) is a huge species of toad that reaches lengths of up to ten inches. It gets its common name from the fact that it was introduced to certain areas to help control the pests in sugar cane fields.
With the ability to lay thousands of eggs coupled with their rather unrestricted diet, the Cane Toad can take over an area. Not only will they eat living animals including reptiles, amphibians, rodents and even birds, but they will also eat various plants, dead material, dog food and even garbage.
If you want to learn more about them, including why some people lick them, you’ll have to check out the video. Enjoy!
The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.
