They brought their children to meet me!steemCreated with Sketch.

This is the face of a young, wild Guinea Fowl!

I fed the parents some peanuts in their shells yesterday and without any interference I walked away, into our house. After about an hour I returned and saw that they broke all of the shells and that they ate the peanuts. They were still in the garden and so put out another handful of peanuts, talking softly and calmly to them all the time. Again I left them alone for the night and this morning a great thing happened.
Let me show you!

At first the dad appeared on the wall, swirling his feathers in an aggressive way. It is a challenge that states that he is prepared for a fight to protect his family!

Calmly I started spreading some maize kernels about and out they popped, mom, dad and the two youngsters!

Trust is a great winner when it comes to the wild and this time I stayed there, singing softly while they ate!

And here is the evidence of their trust. Or maybe it was my singing that relaxed this youngster so much that he decided to lay down a bit. Animals are not stupid and they can sense when a human has intentions to harm them. The secret is to treat them with respect and love and they are sure to return it.

O how blessed you are to stay in such a beautiful place

Thank you Lady Anneke. Although we have only signed a six month contract here, and it is only temporary. But, as usual, we try to make the best of everything. Blessings to you.

Now you have inherited another family to feed and care for, animals know the hand that feeds them, once trust sets in you are going to be seeing them daily from here on in.

Now we already do see them every day. This morning they had the cheek to come and knock on the front door with their beaks, and if they could speak they would say...come and feed us. Blessings to you Lady Joan.

This is so special @papilloncharity, looks like our feathered friends know how to find you, they're gorgeous!
Hope you are settling in well:)
