IT IS HARD TO KICK AGAINST THE PRICKS

You can't fight Jesus Christ. You can't be against Jesus Christ. You can't fight against Jesus Christ and win. This is a matter you must urgently acknowledge before you get crushed.

Look at the words of Jesus Christ Himself,

Mathew 21:44 AMP:And whoever falls on this Stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom It falls will be crushed to powder [and It will winnow him, scattering him like dust].

Many persons have been fighting God and doesn't even know; while some do but don't even care. It is an act of foolishness to be fighting God because God will always win. Look at the case of Saul( who became Paul) in the Bible who was fighting the church of Jesus Christ without knowing he was persecuting Jesus Christ and even thought he was helping God.

Acts 9:5, And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. Acts 9:5 (KJV)

This word pricks has the concept of a “sharp, pointed edge or projection used in stinging .” The prick was a stick with pointed edge that was used to urge some stubborn animals to move in a certain direction. Sometimes, the stubborn animals will refuse to move in the desired direction and kick back at the prick with rage but end up stabbing itself even more. A prick was typically a sharp stick used to drive cattles to desired directions. In the ancient Greek and Roman times, the phrase was a well-known phrase as an expression meaning someone was fighting or against deity. If we understand it from this light, it means Jesus Christ only told Saul who became Paul that he was only hurting himself in his effort to eliminate Christians. He was unknowingly opposing or fighting God trying that.

As the early church was increasing in numbers, the Jewish leaders were debating what to do with the leaders of the Christian movement at that time. A Pharisee named Gamaliel suggested this advice,

“So in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or action is of men, it will be overthrown; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God.”

They took his advice; and after seeking audience of the apostles, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus Christ ever again, and then they released them.” Fighting God or fighting against God is a fight one is sure to lose and even get broken.

On this note, it is wise if you be on God's side instead of fighting Him. Be on God's side assures you of perpetual victory parade. You can't fight or kick against the pricks. Fighting or kicking against the pricks will only make things rougher on you mentally, physically, and spiritually. All you have to do is to surrender to God's will for your life and believe that God has tour best interest at heart. Fighting or kicking against the prick is painful and unnecessary.
