CURE FOR THE ‘I-GIVE-UP’ SYNDROME

Depression sets in most times when people lose sight of the reason for which they started in the first place.
True achievers are those who never lost sight of their vision till the very end.

In today's world, a lot of people have have ambitions for life. They might have even start off on the right foot only to stop half-way, the ambition not achieved and the end result is a feeling of disappointment. After several such attempts, they close up shop, park our and let out in frustration, “I give up! “
For every endeavor to succeed, motivation must be maintained (you could quote me here. That's more like Penauthor 2017).

Motivation is like the fuel that drives the vehicle of ambition, of passion (we'll come to this in another post).
So the ‘million dollars question’ is ‘how do I stay motivated?‘

This is what this blog post seeks to do justice to. Please read on.

10 ways to stay motivated

Before I begin, I want you to know that motivation is relative. That is, what motivates one may not necessarily motivate the other. So, everything I'm going to recommend begins and ends with you. You will find out in the end that it's more of personal discovery than an external control or corrective measure.

1)Answer the ‘why’- a clear understanding of the ‘why’ most times will leave you with an absolute and definitive reason why you should take and stick to a course of action. The answer to the ‘why’ question defines your purpose.

  1. Have a compelling vision-
Creating and maintaining a mental picture of what you want to achieve is key to staying motivated. It must be large enough to keep you going but not out of scale. It must be realistic and attainable.

  2. Map out a plan of action
Now that you have a vision, the next step is to draw out a plan of action geared towards the achievement of the vision. Plans help break down visions into step by step course of action.

  3. Maintain a positive mental attitude
Avoid thoughts and words that bring negativity. Always see things from the bright side. This is very crucial to your success in achieving your goals. Refuse to let minor setbacks deter you from following the path you've set.

5)Deal with procrastination as you would an infection
Never allow excuses for delays. If you find yourself unable to start a task, get to the root and remove the source. Procrastination is the reason why there are so many dreamers but less achievers.
The best time to begin is now and don't stop until you cross the finish line.

6)Don't be a ‘do-it-all’
Multi-tasking is not advisable when you want to get a task done. Don’t plan to build the house, repair the car, mow the lawns and weed the garden all at the same time. That's the recipe for disaster. Focus your attention on achieving this one task and then move onto another.

7 ) Kill the distractions
Do everything within your power to rid yourself of the distractions that pose as threats to the completion of your task. It could be your mobile device, the TV, a fancy book and others I can't think of.

8)Spice it up with some fun
Keeping it funny is one way to keep it going. You will not lose motivation easily when it doesn't burn you out.

9)Set a deadline day for the task

Setting a deadline for the completion of the project helps keep you in check. It will help you remove every tendency to be complacent.

10 ) Reward yourself
Set up a system to reward yourself at the actualization of the goal. It could be a motivating factor to push you and get you going.

Always remember, staying motivated takes an effort and is solely dependent on you. Make sure bring it out from you and you'll succeed.
