#Event "Dolci Portici" Turin Italy: Pastry-making among some porticos of the city!!

in #travelfeed7 years ago (edited)

Hi Dear Steemit community,

Today I am going to show you an event occurred in the center of Turin Italy. The name was "Dolci Portici" why “Portici” (Porticos in English)? Let me write a short introduction about it. Turin is the forth largest city in Italy whose old center is marked by approximately twelve kilometers of streets with porticos and arcades. It was designed square-shaped by its founder the Roman Emperor August in the first century A.C.

Coming back to the event's name Dolci (Sweets) concerning mostly the chocolate. It consists on stands of different local makers along a part of the street Via Roma between Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Castello. This street became pedestrian-friendly and sometimes host events like that.

Each stand is in the middle of the street so pedestrian have chance to walk through both sides as well as the below the porticos.

This stand shows also the process of making chocolate and its beginning with its meticolous toasting. Develop and enhance the aroma of cocoa bean is the main goal. The best result is related to:
-The peculiarity of the cocoa beans
-The vegetable composition of tannins
-The level of humidity

Once this process ended it should be easier to grind the cocoa beans in order to have an higher-quality chocolate.

Walking through the stands I found a wide range of type of chocolate classic dark, white and milk chocolate, with ginger and nuts or hazelnuts.

Turin became famous for Giandujotti its overturned-shaped boat chocolate made by cocoa, sugar and local hazelnuts (Gianduja) from the region Piemonte.

Typical of Turin is also the bicerin made of this type of chocolate. The usage of this hazelnut to make chocolate is dated around 1865 and the name Gianduja is related to a typical carnival mask from Turin.
In April the weather is warm enough to eat an ice cream. Among the stands there was also an ice cream retailer. Around the flavours there were also dark chocolate and Gianduja.

More delicious were the fresh strawberries with dark chocolate and cream. I definitely love this combination and obviously that "column of chocolate".

Found also truffles chocolate light cream with nuts and pistachio

Surprisingly see also “salami” made by dark chocolate biscuits or “salami” made by milk chocolate.

(Some Giandujotto's liquor or bicerin from some distilleries around Alps close to the city).

And some local grappa liquor with different flavours such as blueberry and honey .

Keep going and see a mass of cocoa and some different shaped chocolate.

If you have never been to Turin yet I would suggest to you to not miss local and traditional chocolate. If any question do not hesitate to make question, I am happy to answer you. I will keep posting about this city in the future.

But Why have this reply received more times?

Heya, there is currently a problem with the bot (mentioned it in the last digest), I will remove the excess ones for you!

You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:

Today I am going to show you an event occured in the center Turin Italy.
It should be occurred instead of occured.
