Women club Engagement Contest1 | My Mother My Everything
Why My Mother (Augustina) is the Most Important Person in my Life
My mother is my world therefore I treat her like a treasure and goddess.
Growing up has not been easy, but with the help of my responsible, hardworking and caring mother I have someone at my back who has and is ready to go extra mile just to ensure my comfort existence.
My dad is a Ghana navy who has the capacity to be responsible with regard to taking care of me and my mom, but the case has been vice versa since my birth. My dad has neglected I and my mother since day one of my existence on this planet Earth, of course I don't know his reasons for doing that, but whatever may be the reason, I don't think is worth the action he has taken.
As a single parent, my mom has played both motherly and father roles for me in my entire life.
She has solely sponsored my education from the nursery, basic and high school, and currently sponsoring my tertiary (University) education.
Through my education, the settlement of my tuition, transportation and accomodation fees in consideration with my upkeep have been some of the challenges my mother faces, and of course, I also engage myself in economic activities in order to assist her and myself financially.
She is a seamstress and that is our major source of making a living.
In fact, I will submit that my mother is the only person who has invested much in my education and personal life, therefore I owe her a lot.
If it had not been her, I wouldn't have gained the opportunity to be a part of the steemit family, since I will have been an illiterate.
The journey hasn't been smooth for both of us, but with God, hard-work and determination our efforts will not go in vain and we will together achieve something better in life.
I keep highlighting on the word us because I am her only child (son), and we have each others back.
I really love and appreciate my mother for what she has sacrificed for me, and I have created awareness for her on that.

Some Memories Shared With My Mother
To elaborate on the memories we have had, I will say they are numerous, since we have been together for a longer period, from the good times to the bad times. But I will share a few with you.
I recall when I was a kid my, my mother will let us take a picture after each Sunday church service, of course it felt good because those days there were very few with smart phones in my community, therefore professional photographers were in charge. She also use to convince me with some biscuits before I agree to go to church with her. I really miss those days though.
She used to travel with me to grotto where we spent some few days with the aim of praying. My mother is a religious person, and she believes in God, therefore I followed her path.
I have really had a great traveling experience with my mother, especially when I was a kid.
We used to call a special day at the basic school "our day". "our day" took place when there is a promotion of students to the next class and each caring and responsible parents or guardians try their best to cheer up their children or ward for moving to the next stage at school by preparing special meals and drinks which will be sent to the school for lunch, gathering and enjoyment.

Although she is/was a single parent, my mother never excluded me in those special occasions, she made every arrangement for me in school just for my comfortability and happiness, therefore enjoyed every bit of those moments.
I usually visit her dressmaking shop and we have interactions just like siblings. Through the shop visit I have gained some of her skills, of which I use to sew some of my personal clothes.
Me sewing at my mom's shop. I had to use the manual machine, due to electricity load shedding
Mom doing what she does best.
My mother will organize a birthday party for me at home, on each of my birthdays, and these are some of things and moments that keeps popping up in my heard when there is the discussion of memories.
A major unpleasant memory I have had with my mother happened in the year 2010. My mother seriously fell sick which affected her sight. I recall one evening she told me her right eye was itching her, after she closed from work. I considered it to be a temporal experience, but this itching later resulted in a cataract which tampered with the health of my mother, and caused pains and financial loss to her due to her eye surgery and the purchasing of drugs.
As a kid and her only son, I really felt bad for her, and I wasn't emotionally stable within that period, because she is the only one I have.
By grace, she recovered from the sickness, and unfortunately she became half-blinded, but it's all good since she didn't lose her live. I am grateful for that because some have worse scenario than mine. This particular incident has always been on my mind, and it is hard to forget.
Mom became more healthy after recovery, just that her sight condition changed.
Again, a bad memory I will like to discuss is her mode of discipline. Since I was a bit stubborn, my mother used to beat me severely anytime I engage myself in any malfeasance or inappropriate behavior, I never liked that side of her due to the pains I encountered on my body along the line.
By then, I thought she was bullying me, but then, in growing up I have realized it was all for my good. Today I can say I stand out in my peers, in terms of discipline and I been able to achieve this because of the actions my mother took when I was at the tender age.
Another sad event I keep reminiscing is a breakdown of our motor bike on our way from farm on a very long distance to the house. I and my mom have a cashew, yam and other crop's farm therefore we have been visiting at least on the Saturday of each week, but there was a certain day when we had a flat tire on our way home, and that time we covered only a short distance, therefore we have to walk and push the motor bike together with our farm goods. On that day I regretted going to the farm, but I had no choice than to endure.
Conclusion
My mother has made me a better person who respect and appreciate all women.
Without my mother, I wouldn't have had a meaningful life and formal education, therefore I pray for long live for us, so that I can show her my outmost gratitude and we will enjoy life together when things become much better.
A single parent (mother) who offers her only son the education she never received is amazing and deserves nothing but the best.
My love for Augustina is unmeasurable, and I wish she was on this platform to witness this publication.
The memories I have shared with my mother are countless, of which there are some ups and downs.

#ladyofpolicycares.
Thank you dear.
It turns out that mothers are more responsible and caring than fathers, which is very sad, because they have to work hand in hand in the the upbringing of their offsprings, but the case has turned vice versa.
Unfortunately some of us have to come across such misfortunes, but in the end these unforseen circumstances make us better in life.
Thank you very much @phlexygee for this quality content.
Your mum is indeed a very hard-working woman, it is not easy to play the role of both parents.
In Yoruba culture, they call her "Obinrin bi okunrin" meaning a man in a woman's body.
Your mum is really trying, make sure you try your very best to make her proud.
I pray that she eats the fruit of her labour
Bro, I will go every mile just to ensure her well being and happiness.
Thank you.
As I read this albi could say repeatedly in my mind was who is like a mother.
A mother's love can never be replicated.
It's pains me whenever I see a mother who is being mis treated by her son.
It takes me almost to tears cause I know that she would still love the child despite his bad deeds.
I hope you are making your mother happy.
You are really lucky to have been loved.
Your mum's love would is more than enough for bother the dad and the mother.
Your mum is a supper woman and I wish her all the best.

Thanks bro, for the feedback.
Most of our mother's are like this and that is why we all work hard so that they are able to reap the fruit of thier labour. Raising you alone must be difficult but she never leave or abandoned you. She's indeed a great mother, thank you for sharing your story.
Thank you my brother.
You really value your mum, Thanks for the entry...
I appreciate, bro.
Wow indeed it couldn't have been easy for you guys seeing that your father abandoned his family that is very sad but then it's good to see that you guys kept grinding I could see why you develop such a strong bond with your mother as she was the only on there for you while growing up so clearly it's no surprise.
Am really sorry for the fact your mom has to lose one of her eye but just like you say it's good she didn't lose her life, I hope you will be a good son and make mama proud so she can reap some rewards for her hard labour
I will definitely make her proud.
There's a better tomorrow, so far as we are alive and doing our best in life.
With the issue of her eye, I feel very bad, because it isn't a congenital condition. But, that's life we have to embrace whatever it offers us.
I appreciate your feedback, bro.
