Hello my dear Steemians,

This is the new account “Planetwild” by @stef1 and @myskye. This account is about collecting Steem for the PlanetWild project. That's why I'm going to post once a day. Everything we get together here (Steem, SBD, SP) goes to the project. Then let's see what we can do here...

We have all seen many different types of trees, but the most impressive one I have ever seen was the Kauri tree in New Zealand. The Kauri tree is a type of evergreen tree native to New Zealand. It is a massive tree that can reach heights of over 50 meters and has a trunk diameter of up to 16 meters. The age of Kauri trees can vary greatly, with some living for several thousand years.

The oldest known Kauri tree is called "Tāne Mahuta," which is located in the Waipoua Forest in Northland, New Zealand. This magnificent tree is estimated to be around 2,500 years old. Tāne Mahuta is not only a magnificent natural wonder but also holds cultural and spiritual significance for the Māori people. It serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and respecting our natural heritage.

"Tāne Mahuta,"…..also called "God of the Forest"

Unfortunately I no longer have my own photo of this wonderful giant tree, but perhaps one of you does. If so then show it in the comments.....

However, Kauri trees are now considered endangered due to deforestation and logging activities. Conservation efforts are being made to protect and preserve these remarkable trees.

I was in New Zealand 29 years ago, but I will never forget this experience. I hope I will see this country again with my own eyes.

Why are forests so important for life on Earth?

Over a third of the planet is covered in forest. Rainforests, kelp forests, pine forests, coniferous forests… Each is home to an abundance of connected ecosystems that rely on each other to survive and thrive. From all the weird and wonderful creatures that call the forest home to climate magic, we will explore why forests aren't just amazing — they're absolutely essential for our survival.

Why are forests so important?

Forests of all sizes play a very important role in the health of the earth. They are home to more than half of the world’s land-based animals, plants and insects and support the livelihoods of approximately 1.6 billion people. Forests are so much more than just areas of trees, plants, shrubs and dirt — they’re the lungs of the planet, producing a significant amount of the oxygen we breathe.

Forests are also one of our key impact areas, alongside animals and oceans. We chose forests because of the importance they have to biodiversity around the world.

Forests act as carbon sinks....................

These beautiful trees are impressive with their age and size, trees are something that really needs to be protected, trees are clean air and the environment in general. Thank you very much for the interesting post.

Thanks for your nice comment, and yes these trees are impressive. When you stand in front of them, you only notice how small you are.

We have some locally to me, not as big or as old but still huge.

Next time i am close i will get some pictures.

I can't wait to see the photos. Whenever I see something from New Zealand (TV or internet), I have the feeling that it hasn't been 29 years, but just ........Months :-)

Thank you, friend!
