A Sunday night story with glass of wine in hand:

Years ago, I used to dine at the Ruth's Chris in San Francisco fairly regularly. I had a favorite server named Vince, and I would make it a point to be seated in his section whenever it was possible.

Vince was a fantastic server, and since I was usually one of the last three or four tables in the restaurant, Vince and I would have a chance to talk at leisure from time to time. He was clearly very sharp, and I remember asking him one evening what he was planning on doing after he was done with the whole "waiting tables" thing. He said, "Oh, I'm saving my money for law school". I recall thinking that with a mind like his, that was a worthy field.

These evening conversations with Vince went on every couple of weeks for two or three years, and then something (I can't remember what) kept me from finding my way into the city for a few months. Perhaps 6 months went by before I was able to get my usual reservation at Ruth's Chris, and when I arrived and asked to be seated in Vince's section, the hostess told me this:
"Vince? He left. He got accepted at Berkeley Law. "

Sometimes the right thing happens.
